7 Must Have Winter Fashion Trends

Long gone are the beach talks and the barbeque pool parties, your summer romance, and park-dates’ afternoons; when the sun starts to set a bit sooner than usual, and we obtain longer nights with colder evenings. With Winter in full swing, shopping and catching up with the latest fashion trends is a must. Putting away the short-shorts and the bathing suits, fall gives us a chance to explore the new trends and ideas.

This winter we experience shades of warmer tones like Burgundy, also known as Oxblood, Gray, and Pastels. We revive the feelings of the 90’s and let our style get a bit more rebellious. Keep reading for the Top 7 trends of the season, and items you must have in your closet. You don’t want to “fall” behind don’t you?

This color exudes passion, and this fall is made even more dramatic with deeper, darker undertones.

2. The Riot Girl

The smell of youth from the 90’s is back, letting our style show a rebellious statement even if we can’t. From the runway to the street, oversized layered clothing, slip dresses, beanies, comeback boots to plaid across all markets.

Exuding a “back-off” attitude with all the embellishments’ are alive in the runway, given the garments a bold yet luxurious look this fall. An embellishment detail added on to the pockets, hems, collars or anywhere in the garment will give it a personalized look and will make you unique and give you a distinct look from the rest of the crowd.

4. Mixed Textures

mix up final

The most fun trend of all! Playing with fabrics never got easier; normally you must choose one novelty fabric and stick to the basics. It’s time to cheat and look fabulous while doing it! Play with your silks, metallic, leather, lace and many more textures to create a great look. Create combinations that take you from day to night if you’d wish, while keeping warm at the same time, just make sure they are all within the same color palette.

5. Gray for Black?

grey

Seems like gray has found its way home this season. Going broad from hair wear to wool cocktail dresses, gray has expanded the trend. Designers this season have found yet a new way to portray cool contemporary looks by using different shades of grays into their color scheme.

All Gold Everything

gold layout

Make a statement this season while sticking with the classics. Simple gold jewelry and make-up are the perfect accents for any occasion. Whether you are going out with the girls, having dinner with your special someone, or attending the office holiday party these products are your BFF.

nars peachear ring

1. “Orgasm blush, lipstick Cinderella” if you are still not sure what Drake is talking about, NARS orgasm blush is the answer. This line of blush is a great way to give your cheeks a pop of color with a gold undertone. Really bring out the subtle sparkle while paring it with an ear cuff.  Ear cuffs might be intimidating at first but once you find one you love they are hard to part with, and are extremely trendy right now. Don’t go over the top, pair your cuff with a simple studded earing on the opposite ear and turn heads anywhere you go.

2. Don’t let your nails miss out on the fun, Zoya 18K gold nail polish is not only better chemically for your nails but also gives you the perfect amount of shine. Add this topcoat to another golden polish for a bold nail or add it over a neutral color for just the right amount of glitter. Top off this look with a set of gold rings. I am currently obsessing over rings that fit around the middle part of your fingers. This small amount of gold makes adding some pizazz to your work wardrobe simple and office ready.

3. If you are looking for a night out and really want t catch someone’s eye (they are the window to the soul, right?), a way to add a little flair to your smoky shadow is by adding gold liquid liner to the inner corner of the eyes and accents to the outer corners. A little bit of Lancôme’s Artliner lets you turn your eyes into a masterpiece. Complete this look with arm party. Adding a golden sparkle bangle and a delicate ring to wrist chain bracelet really lets you shine.

necklace

4.  Ben-Amun jewelry has graced the pages of many fashion magazines such as Vogue, Elle, and Harper’s Bazaar. His work is exquisite and this elegant necklace is what every woman should desire as a staple to her wardrobe.  The chain links mixed with knot-like details adds just the right amount of 70’s glam. Although, this piece is a little pricy there is no doubt this necklace can take any look from boring to stunning. Adding gold shimmer to your chest will really allow for this piece to pop without overdoing it.

5.  Every woman has her make-up go to. It’s quick its simple and it makes you feel confident and ready to walk out the door.  This is why I love Urban Decays Naked eye-shadow palate, every color I could ever need for my morning ritual. With the central colors being gold tones these shadows work for every skin stone by going up or down a shade.

bobbia3gold flakes

6. Last but not least, it’s time to pucker up show off your lips. I was hesitant at first when I thought of the idea of gold lip-gloss but have no fear Bobbi Brown knows how much shimmer one girls lips can take. Both of these ‘Old Hollywood High Shimmer colors pair well with pink and neutral toned lipsticks. Get flirty by adding a floral headband on top and letting your natural waves flow free and you are ready to get drinks and dinner with your sweetie.

Tip: Pair your gold accents with emerald green or burgundy and if you are looking to show off your feminine side pale pink is also flattering with gold tones.

Keep it classy ladies but don’t shy away from making a bold statement this season. It’s all in the details! No matter where you are going you can always find a way to shine. Share your gold inspired outfits, make-up, and jewelry with us!

Makeup Trends from Fall 2013

Winter. It’s that time of year when the temperature drops and instead of rocking sundresses and sandals, we contemporary professional stylistas find ourselves bundling up in fierce coats, luxurious sweaters, and bodacious booties.  And while our winter wardrobe is good to go, what about the make-up? There’s no way we can walk around with summery orange and turquoise nails when we’re rocking burgundy knit dresses and cute, leather black skirts; that’s a fashion no-no! If you’re up to speed on the current Fall and Winter looks, you’ll know that some of the hottest make-up trends for Fall/Winter 2013 include berry-stained lips, a well groomed brow, smoky eyes, and seductive red nails. Curious? Scroll down for more info on how to match your new make-up look to your favorite winter outfit.

Berry-Stained Lips

LS Final

Some of this season’s hottest fashion shows, including Lanvin, Christian Dior, and Vera Wang, all featured models wearing a berry, or wine-stained lip. Like all things in life, the key to wearing a berry-stained lip is to find the shade that works for you. Plan on wearing a berry lip to the office? You might want to stay away from anything too dark or gothic looking. Are you headed out for a night on the town with your best girlfriends or that cutie from Accounting? You’ve got my permission to try a lip that’s a little more sultry, sexy, and alluring like the one featured above. Just remember: dark berry tones work best with a nude eye, so if you’re working a dramatic lip, be sure to tone down your other make-up choices.

Bold Brows

bold brows

Bold brows never go out of style. This winter, it’s all about a brow that does not need to be penciled in, thinned out, or altered in any way. You can rock a well-brow with minimal make-up or with a little something extra and still look amazing. If you’re hesitant about your brows or feel like they’re thick, honey, they’re not. Just be sure to use a brow brush (we like the  in the morning and you’re on your way.

Seductive Red Nails

Nails

This season, there’s a return to glamour, luxuriousness, and a sort of classic refinement which seems to have gone ignored in past seasons. As we’ve witnessed with the spring and summer nail trends, Fall/Winter 2013 is still all about color; the only difference is that there’s a shift away from pastels and youthful colors like lilac and turquoise to a more grown woman color like oxblood or siren red. Just about every nail brand on the market has their version of what I like to call vixen red. If you’re feeling particularly daring, I recommend checking out OPI’s.

Smoky Eyes

Eyes

Really, does a smoky eye ever go out of style? While I do not recommend the smoky eye for the workplace, I can promise that you will get all kinds of attention should you decide to rock this look at your next happy hour or First Friday. Beware, though: the smoky eye can be tricky. Too much smudged eyeliner will raise questions and make you look like you’re in dire need of extra sleep. If you’re struggling with perfecting the look, Bare Escentuals has a “Smoky V Eye Tutorial” that will help you perfect the look in no time!

Finished Skin

FResh Face2

If you care to venture back to Fall 2013 runway shows, in between drooling and sighing over the looks of Valentino, Christian Dior, and Chanel, you might have noticed that many of the models that appeared on the runway did so with finished skin. But wait, shouldn’t skin always be “finished?” Isn’t that what finishing powder is for? Yes. The tried and true finished skin look is more about your skin appearing flawless and velvety than it is about a perfect or completed look. And who doesn’t want the appearance of flawless skin?
